WSROC is instrumental in building collaboration between local governments across Greater Western Sydney.
WSROC’s professional networks encourage stronger regional dialogue, increase information and resource sharing, and help identify opportunities for cross-council initiatives.
The groups are usually open to WSROC councils’ staff of a certain professional discipline. Current WSROC professional groups include:
- Arts and cultural development
- Communications and media
- Economic development
- Environment and sustainability
- Human resources
- Strategic planning
- Sport and recreation
- Transport planning
- Waste planning
By working together, council officers can share knowledge, work together on common challenges, and share in professional development opportunities.
Professional network meetings also provide an avenue for external parties (whether state, federal or private agencies) to address councils en masse on any issue relevant to the group.
