WSROC recognises data centres as essential enabling infrastructure underpinning Australia’s digital economy — supporting cloud services, artificial intelligence and critical digital connectivity.

At the same time, the benefits of data centres are broadly distributed, while the impacts are concentrated in host communities, such as Western Sydney.

This creates a clear policy challenge: how to support the growth of critical digital infrastructure while ensuring host communities are not left worse off.
