Lithgow City Council is set to become a member of the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) after formally accepting an invitation to join the regional organisation in July.

WSROC CEO Charles Casuscelli said “Following discussions between executive management of the two organisations, it became clear that there would be significant benefit from working together.

“Lithgow is a progressive, eastward-looking council that sees significant opportunity in aligning itself with Greater Western Sydney,” he said.

“As the gateway to NSW’s Central West, Lithgow is well placed to support the growth of Western Sydney, and in particular the future Parklands City.

“Both Lithgow and Western Sydney will benefit from improving trans-Blue Mountains transport links, industry and economic connections. Linking Western Sydney Airport to the agricultural, manufacturing and tourism markets of central NSW,” he said.

“By working with Lithgow, WSROC seeks to maximise opportunities for the businesses and communities of Western Sydney; opportunities which will benefit everyone,” he said.

“There is little doubt that the growth of Western Sydney over the next 20 years, and in particular, the new Western Sydney Airport, will create significant opportunities for communities on both sides of the Blue Mountains, and we very much look forward to working with Lithgow Council to harness these,” said Mr Casuscelli.

WSROC’s current membership includes: Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Cumberland, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Liverpool and Parramatta.
