Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) teamed up with Local Government Procurement to present the interactive circular procurement forum designed to help council staff translate circular economy principles into practical procurement action.

The event took place with input from councils across Greater Sydney and beyond, state government agencies, private industry, consultancies and professional groups.

Appealing to a wide cross-section of local government professionals, forum attendees included council procurement staff, project managers including landscape designers and architects, governance staff, and waste, sustainability, and ‘net zero’ staff.

Participants were given practical insights for implementing circular procurement across a range of local government projects, services and purchasing decisions.

The forum showcased case studies of how councils have implemented elements of circularity in procurement processes and explored key government programs and resources for councils.

A panel discussion allowed discussion on real-world experiences of supporting circular procurement and to connect, collaborate and learn from peers across Western Sydney councils.
