In 2022, the NSW Government released a plan for Western Sydney that supports the delivery of housing, jobs and infrastructure while protecting important biodiversity, including threatened plants and animals - the Cumberland Plain Conservation Plan (CPCP).
The CPCP identifies land that can be developed and land that requires conservation. This is critical for the protection of vulnerable and endangered species like Koalas and the Swift Parrot.
WSROC, in partnership with the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, has established the CPCP Compliance Support Team as part of a 12-month pilot. This team will be working to support local councils to achieve compliance with native vegetation clearing planning controls.
