New WSROC Executive

Media Release, 26 October, 2012

Liverpool Councillor Tony Hadchiti has been elected as the new President of the Western Sydney Regional Organisations of Councils at the Annual General Meeting last night.

Clr Hadchiti replaced Alison McLaren, who led the influential advocacy organisation for a record four years, helping to highlight regional issues and gain recognition for Western Sydney at the highest level of government.

“I am looking forward to continuing the great work of WSROC and working together with the Board to promote the best interest of Western Sydney”, Clr Hadchiti said.

The key issues for the region would be increased employment, infrastructure and transport.

“The key will be how we get people to not only live here but work here too. We need to give the people of Western Sydney a work-life balance so they can spend less time travelling to work and more time with their families.

“We want to see young families wanting to make Western Sydney their home because they are attracted by the lifestyle”, Clr Hadchiti said.

The new WSROC Executive provides a good spread across Western Sydney, with Clr Tiffany Tree from Hawkesbury Council elected as Senior Vice President, Clr Steven Issa from Parramatta Council as Junior Vice President, and Clr Jacqueline Donaldson from Blacktown Council as Treasurer.

There were many new faces on the WSROC Board which saw 13 new delegates appointed as a result of the Local Government Elections held last month.
