Tony Hadchiti re-elected as President

Liverpool Councillor Tony Hadchiti has been returned for a second year as President of the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils at the AGM held last night.

Clr Hadchiti was elected unanimously to continue his leadership of the role of the region’s premier advocacy organisation, which is celebrating its 40th year.

“I’m very honoured to be elected President for the second year running and I look forward to continue the important work of WSROC,” Clr Hadchiti said.

“The past twelve months has not been without its challenges but we have also had some great successes in achieving recognition and resources for our region.”

“The next twelve months will be equally challenging and exciting, with the NSW Government’s reviews of planning and local government providing an opportunity for WSROC to play a key role in the reform process.”

“Western Sydney is the powerhouse of not just Sydney, but the whole of NSW and building and investing in our region will be vital to ensure the economic prosperity of our State,” he said.

Hawkesbury Councillor and Deputy Mayor, Tiffany Tree was returned unanimously as Vice President for the second year and Blacktown Councillor Jacqueline Donaldson was returned as Treasurer.

Fairfield Councillor George Barcha took on the role of Junior Vice President, succeeding Parramatta Councillor Steven Issa.

Clr Hadchiti congratulated the executive and paid tribute to Clr Issa’s contribution over the past 12 months.

“We have been a strong and effective executive team and I look forward to continuing our work on behalf of Western Sydney,” he said.
