Endeavour Energy and a number of Western Sydney councils came together during September to discuss the maintenance and management of public lighting.

Hosted by WSROC, the forum aimed to increase collaboration between Endeavour Energy on a range of issues, including public lighting, main road lighting, new technologies and vegetation management.

The event formed part of Endeavour Energy’s consultation process on their draft 2019-24 regulatory proposal which will be lodged with the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) in January 2018.

WSROC President Cr Stephen Bali said “Councils and energy providers have shared responsibility for public lighting – energy providers own the asset, but councils are responsible for providing the service, community safety and amenity.

“So coming together to iron out issues in service provision is really important,” he said.

The forum had a number of positive outcomes in working towards greater collaboration between councils and Endeavour Energy; with all parties agreeing to regular (quarterly) events.

WSROC and councils have made their formal submissions to Endeavour’s draft regulatory proposal following the consultation.
